In this study, Antariksa initiated contact with artists who had once been members of LEKRA and their contemporaries who are still alive, as well as collected data on research done by other researchers, such as research and transcripts on wayang and the descending method (metode turun ke bawah (turba)). The argument developed by Antariksa is that in the relation between art and LEKRA, the social and political context were much more important than the “esthetics”. He did not aim to conduct a documentation of a “textual study” on the works of LEKRA artists, instead he sought a social and political explanation to the relation between art and LEKRA.
Tuhfah project is a grant award for research on themes around art that are rarely brought up or discussed. The grand theme raised was “Sejarah Senyap/Silent History”. Tuhfah Program was run for three years with three research focuses proposed by Primanto Nugroho, Antariksa, and I Ngurah Suryawan.
