This workshop provided a basic understanding on ways to comprehend, analyze, and find alternatives in photo critique. This workshop was capped with a discussion on the works of August Sander beign exhibited at Cemeti Art House, “Man of the 20th Century”. During World War I, August Sander owned a photo studi in Linz, Austria. He abandoned his studio at its peak of success to pursue his interest in photographing the expression of farmers and villagers he met. “Man of the Twentieth Century” was his monumental project, documenting people who lived in his birthplace, Wasterwald. He had stated that humans were formed from light and air, talked about inherited traits and activities performed. From one’s look, according to Sander, a lot can be learned about what a person’s occupation is, or whether that person is happy in his life.
