It seems that works of art want to provide an experience in language in forms that are not yet familiar to people in general. It is this experience that the six artists banded in their group, Rolling Draw, attempt to communicate. To my ears, the pronunciation of Rolling Draw sounded like a parody on a stale and uncreative linguistic practice. But Rolling Draw is not just a word play on rolling door or Rolling Stones. What they mean by Rolling Draw is; a person makes starts a drawing, and then interpreted through the drawing of others, and concluded by another artist who got the last turn on the same sheet of paper. In the 12 works exhibited, each artist got turns as the initiator and the closer. And my observations on this practice of drawing on paper containing a series of visual responses do not indicate any play or spin on the meaning of the term rolling door or rolling stones, although the audience may slip into getting certain visual impressions from the naming of this practice of art. This is because some playfulness in naming a certain practice is not always related to parodies that tend to slip the main meanings of things. Alternatively, a parody is not always about playfulness, although it starts from a playful response. In the Rolling Draw series, aside from being the creator of narratives in each story communicated, the artists also act as interpreters of the images created by other artists on the same media. As such, in adition to being personal expression, personal utterances also serve as means to interpret something through a personal perspective.
