This book is a collection of four essays, all related to the collaboration between Kenneth M. George and A.D. Pirous since 1985. This collection of essays was not intended to become a comprehensive view on the position of Pirous in the history of Indonesian modern art, or to jack up Pirous’ popularity more than other painters, or to critique his work. This essay collection was a practice of ethnography on art history. The history of ethnographic art is far from naïve, utopian or different discourses, and is free from such pressures.
