“Muka Malas” Solo Exhibition

moki-1

Date: 4- 10 November 2008

Artist: Prihatmoko Catur a.k.a Moki

Location: IVAA Hobby Studio

As a young artist with a graphic art background from ISI Yogyakarta, Moki often incorporates print techniques such as screen printing and stencil in his paintings. This time he is working at IVAA to create drawings and multimedia works. Moki sought photographic data of persons around him; Eko Nugroho, Bambang Toko, Terra Bajraghossa, Wedhar Riyadi, Danius Kesminas, Samuel Indratma, and Suwarno Wisetrotomo. These are people who have strong influence in Moki’s art practice. Moki copied photographs of these people from IVAA archive to be screen printed on a canvass. The impressions of these figures were then processed further with acrylic paint. For Moki, an archive is not an inviolable object of worship. He sees those documents as raw material that is appealing to be torn apart, chopped up, and reformed into new work of art. He presented this creative process through his cheery comic drawings.
