“Ingat” Solo Exhibition

img_6995IVAA took this opportunity to hold a Solo Exhibition of Sadat Laope’s Works. He hails from Luwu, South Sulawesi, and is still enrolled as a Graphic Art student at ISI Yogyakarta Art Department. Works presented included drawings made by Sadat Laope in the last eight years. The selection and curation of the works for this exhibition was done by the artist himself. Around 54 works were exhibited in 6 parts, each titled “Tamasya” (Sightseeing), “Bius” (Insensitize), “Atraksi Asing” (Foreign Attraction), “Malu-Malu Kuda” (Shy like a Horse), “Goyang kaki” (Foot shaking), dan “Duduk Diatas Pagar” (Sitting on the Fence). As for the title of his exhibition, Sadat chose a brief phrase “Ingat” (Remember). This exhibition shows how an artist traces back his creative process when documentation was rarely done. Through this process, an artist is faced with reality that can be bitter, that is, when he comes to the realization that overall his works had not undergone significant development.
