Studio was opened in 2006. Formerly a garage, it is a space used for small exhibitions and drawing courses with Pius Sigit Kuncoro as the tutor. Recently, Hobby Studio is closed for regular exhibitions, since demand for exhibition space has become overflowing and IVAA has no intentions to organize artwork presentation in a common way as galleries or similar spaces. Therefore, IVAA prioritize its space as a community center in terms of meeting point and discussion forums.

“Rolling Draw” Group Exhibition

It seems that works of art want to provide an experience in language in forms that are not yet familiar to people in general. It is this experience that the six artists banded in their group, Rolling Draw, attempt to communicate. To my ears, the pronunciation of Rolling Draw sounded like a parody on a [...]

“Ada Apa dengan Kumis” Solo Exhibition

This exhibition is a sample of the paradox between the statement of the death of the subject and the tendency that artists’ works are increasingly becoming personal statements. Nanag Zulkarnaen’s works are personal statements, particularly about the mustache sitting above his lips. These mustaches are then processes into semiotics, turning them into metaphors. Nanang Zulkarnaen’s [...]

“Octocyber Cannibal” Exhibition

We often find their names scattered on the walls in Yogyakarta. In this exhibition, they are not only scratching on the walls. They brought with them objects that replicate robotic forms from materials like cans, PVC or plastics that can no longer be recycled. These materials are then assembled, repainted until they resemble body parts, [...]
